5 Essential Venice tips!
1) You must stay the night - and you must stay in Venice proper.
That means NO Mestre, NO mainland, NO Lido - and if I'm being really really picky, not even the Giudecca. I'm perfectly willing to say after your first visit you can stay where ever the heck you like, just on the first visit to Venice you have to give her a chance to shine, to show you what real Venice is like. And she can't do that if you aren't there in the right places at the right times. So stay overnight on the main island for one night, ideally two. If your budget won't allow the full stay on the main island, switch to a Mestre hotel or somewhere off the Island. But only AFTER you've spend 1 or 2 days on the island Venice, herself.
2) You must be patient.
